| Having power up problems (Possible short circuit?) [Matt / Jul25(Tue) 17:03] <-Reply to this message Hey everyone, Now I'm just an enthusiast so I don't have a degree in electrical engineering, but yesterday I decided I'd clean the internals of my 6 button cabinet up a little bit. I've never had any problems with this cabinet before. So first I decided to remove the hard coin box shell (Seeing as I don't have a coinbox). Then I decided it was high time I equiped my board to the wall of my machine (at the moment I'm using lots of CPS2 motherboard so it's easy to still change). So I fixed that board into the screw holes that'd fit it. Lastly I gave it a vaccuum and tried to tidy up some of the wires that kept hanging down. It was all fine until I went to start it up again once I was all done and noticed half the time it'll either start and then click off or not start and try and click on after. Obviously this isn't a good thing so I want to have it fixed, but taking it in for a service is just too hard and normally leads to more damage. I did take the jamma harness off the CPS2 board and tried it with my shinobi from the usual position and noticed it was still doing it every so often, though I must say it wasn't as often. Now I'm gradually unplugging things form the junction box (?) like the Fluro for the header etc (the fan was already unplugged). The clicking noise comes from the filter or whatever it is the current passes into first and I noticed that along with the main cord that goes in and out there was also a thin purple wire that is not plugged into anything (could have come unplugged). Just to add the cut off normally happens within the time it takes for the fluro to switch on (I just unlugged that, though I swear I did that before and it still clicked off :\). Also the Jamma harness is normally pretty tight, like there's never been much slack. Also there are no problems during the actual game. Help me please :(. Update: As an update I have removed and replaced the fluro and it no longer cuts off part way through start up, yet start up is still frequently delayed! I can post pics if need be. |
