As new scores have started to appear on the ranking list (and I have Cosmic Smash currently plugged into my naomi :), I decided to post a CS-related message - cos I know, if I don't do it, nobody will :)

My highest score so far is 17859301.

To achieve that, I went right-left-right. That's the second "easy" path to the right. I succeeded in finishing every level with a trick smash.

Any ideas how to complete the "first junction level" (the one with lots of blue blocks and "shield" blocks) easily? With my skills it's pretty random if I complete the level quickly or not - I always just tend to smash the ball to extreme right or left to try to get it behind the blue blocks. I usually succeed in completing the level (sometimes quickly, most of the time slowly), but getting a trick finish on that one is REALLY difficult.

So .. any hints and tips?

I use pretty much the same strat you do, of trying to get it behind the blocks and having it bounce around and take a bunch out. The best way to do that is take out a few on either end, then hit a "curve ball". You've still got a little control over the ball after you hit it, so hit it straight, then curve it just as it's going into the blocks. Try messing around with doing that and you'll probably develop a good method of taking them out quickly each time. As for getting a trick smash ending... it's mostly just timing and a bit of luck. Maybe I'll try making a video with my capture card of my technique on that level. BTW, my current high is 27642401, sitting me at #80, with a little practice I think I could break 30000000.

For that score, the lower easy path, left at the first junction, then down. I got the bonus for no balls lost and smash trick endings on every stage. So yeah... if I got better on some of the other paths I think I could get way higher.

Scratch that... I was describing it wrong... it's more like... moving the controller in the direction you want to go right after hitting the ball, or as you're just about to, as opposed to at the same time you press the button. It gives more of a curved trajectory. Kinda difficult to explain as it's a "feel" thing.
